Hotel recommendations:

Participants can stay on campus in Ludovika Residence Hall or in the Dorimotory of the Faculty of Law Enforcement. We can provide free accommodation for one night for up to 15-20 people (up to two persons per room). If there are more participants looking for accommodation, we can recommend them cheap hotels nearby.

The Residence Hall: The Residence Hall is located in the 8th district of Budapest, near Nagyvárad square. The establishment is a part of the Ludovika Campus of the university so it is a short walking distance from the competition site. The construction of the building was finished in September 2015, and the Residence Hall is surrounded by Orczy Park, which offers opportunities for leisure, a green area in the inner city of Budapest, and the lake gives the visitors a good location for relaxation. The proximity and easy accessibility of the downtown allows the residents to easily enjoy the entertaining and cultural possibilities of the city.

Visa requirements:

Entry requirements into Hungary EU citizens can travel without a visa to another EU country. Citizens from some non-EU countries are required to hold a visa when travelling to the Schengen Area. The EU has a common list of countries whose citizens must have a visa when crossing the external borders and a list of countries whose citizens are exempt from that requirement. These lists are set out in Regulation (EU) 2018/1806. Generally, a short-stay visa issued by one of the Schengen States entitles its holder to travel throughout the 27 Schengen States for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Visas for visits exceeding that period remain subject to national procedures. American citizens can travel to Hungary with a valid passport (six-month validity recommended) and no tourist visa is required for stays under 90 days. More information can be found on the US Department of State website. More information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Affairs or at the Embassies and Consulates of Hungary based in your home country. Please check the current legislation and procedures on the website of the Immigration and Asylum Office. You can also get help from the Hungarian Country Office of the International Organization for Migration.
