Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society Spring 2026 Webinar:
The Role of Public Sector Collaborative Governance and Addressing Global Food Insecurity
Global food insecurity remains one of the most pressing public policy challenges of the twenty-first century. Climate change, conflict, supply chain disruptions, and economic inequality continue to threaten access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food for millions of people worldwide. Addressing this complex and multidimensional issue requires more than isolated government action; it demands collaborative governance across public agencies, nonprofit organizations, international institutions, and private sector partners.
This Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society panel explores how public sector leaders can foster collaborative governance frameworks to strengthen food systems and promote sustainable food security. Panelists will examine how governments at local, national, and international levels coordinate with community organizations, agricultural producers, humanitarian agencies, and global institutions to design and implement effective policy responses.
The discussion will highlight key strategies used in collaborative governance, including cross-sector partnerships, multi-level policy coordination, public–private initiatives, and community-based decision-making. Panelists will also address the role of data sharing, innovation in agricultural policy, and inclusive stakeholder engagement in developing resilient food systems. Case examples from different regions will illustrate how collaborative governance models can improve food distribution networks, support smallholder farmers, and enhance emergency food response mechanisms.
In addition, the panel will consider the administrative and policy challenges that public sector leaders face when managing complex collaborations. Topics such as accountability, equity, resource allocation, and institutional capacity will be explored to better understand how governance structures can adapt to global food security demands.
Bringing together scholars, practitioners, and emerging public service leaders, this panel provides an opportunity to examine how collaborative governance can serve as a powerful tool in addressing global food insecurity. Participants will gain insight into innovative policy approaches and practical strategies that strengthen partnerships and improve the effectiveness of public sector responses to one of the world’s most urgent humanitarian challenges.
