How did you select your graduate school and how did it prepare you for your career?
> Georgia Law Enforcement Command College.
Any work or internship experience during graduate school?
> I worked full time for Georgia State Patrol as Captain, Troop B Commander.
What was the most important or useful course you took in the MPA/MPP?
> All of the Command College courses offered a great deal of information.
Were you a Presidential Management Intern?
> No.
What has been your career path since graduating? What do you want to be doing in 5 years?
> After graduation, I was promoted from Captain to Colonel of the Georgia State Patrol. In five years, I will probably will be retired.
What is the most exciting and/or interesting aspect of your current job?
> I enjoy the challenge of leading a large statewide law enforcement agency.
Do you feel your MPA/MPP is helping you to “make a difference?” How?
> Absolutely. Management skills and networking are necessary for success at a higher level.
What advice, if any, would you give to an undergraduate thinking about going for an MPA/MPP?
> My advice is that anyone pursuing a MPA should be prepared to give the maximum effort, which will reward them with an enriching experience. The realities of management dictate that a student gain as much knowledge and experience possible and that time focused on modern law enforcement issues is not wasted.
