INPAE FOUNDING INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERS AND THE ELECTION OF INPAE OFFICERS FOR
2003-2005
NASPAA has been committed to oversee INPAE administrative matters relating to
the formal organization of INPAE until an INPAE Secretariat Office could be
established in Latin America. Thus, during summer 2003, NASPAA organized
and administered the processes to determine the INPAE founding
institutional members in the Americas; these members would be the initial
INPAE voting members. In summer and fall 2003, NASPAA organized and
administered the processes leading to the fall 2003 election of the INPAE
officers (President, Vice-President, and 8 members of the Directing
Council, i.e., the Board of Directors).
NASPAA’s first step was to confirm the founding institutional members of
INPAE and the designation, at each institutional member, of the principal
representative who will officially represent that institution in the
conduct of INPAE business matters. NASPAA sent a letter and an
institutional membership form to institutions whose representatives had
participated in or shown interest in INPAE activities during the last
several years, inviting them to become INPAE founding institutional members.
Twenty-six institutions, 8 from the U.S. and 18 from Latin America,
confirmed their interest in being INPAE founding institutional members and
designated an INPAE institutional representative.
Through a series of electronic communications organized and conducted by
NASPAA, with the advice of the INPAE Steering Committee, these
institutional representatives of the founding institutional members nominated persons from the INPAE network for the positions of President and
Vice-President; voted on these nominees to elect the first INPAE President
and Vice-President; nominated candidates for the Directing Council; and
elected the initial 8 members of the Directing Council.
