Robert Orr joined the United Nations in August 2004 as the Assistant Secretary –General for Policy Coordination and Strategic Planning in the Office of the Secretary-General. Prior to joining the U.N, Mr. Orr was Director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government. Orr has completed many years of service with the United States government, serving as Deputy to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Director of Global and Multicultural Affairs at the National Security Council. Mr. Orr has written extensively on the subject of post-conflict reconstruction, the United Nations, and peacekeeping processes. In 2001, Mr. Orr co-directed a commission on post-conflict reconstruction sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Association of the United States Army.
