Mr. Scott was unanimously appointed Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in May 2006. As Managing Director, Scott oversees a network of ABC television stations, radio stations, and digital media outlets. Prior to this appointment, Scott was the head of Fairfax’s metropolitan newspapers. Scott did not start his career with an intention to become a journalist. Scott taught English for two years before entering the public sector as a press secretary for the Greiner government, a position that allowed him to work with the government's education ministers. Mid-career, Scott returned to school at Harvard University where he earned his MPA. Upon returning to Australia, Scott was appointed Education Editor at the Herald Newspaper and quickly rose in rank to serve on Fairfax’s executive board. At ABC, Scott utilizes his background in journalism, as well as his education in management.
