Kavita Ramdas is the President
and CEO of the non-profit organization Global Fund for Women,
a grant-making foundation that works to strengthen women’s
rights around the world. In 2005, Kavita received the Women of
Substance Award from the African Women's Development Fund for
her contribution to women's rights in Africa. In 2004,
Financial Women's Association named Kavita Woman of the Year
for the Public Sector; and Women and Philanthropy gave her the
LEAD (Leadership for Equity and Diversity) Award for her
commitment to funding the fight for global human rights for
women and girls. Ramdas said of her graduate education, “I
decided to pursue an MPA degree because I wanted to be
connected to real issues and people on the ground, and my
Field II studies gave me an overview, as well as a structure,
to critique and debate development theory.” |
