Jaime Arrellano currently serves as Deputy Secretary of Justice under Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria. Arellano obtained his MPA from American University, and he served as a legal and political advisor to the Chilean Embassy during his time in the United States. After returning to Chile, Arrellano served an advisory role to the Minister of Justice, helping to draft legislation related to criminal procedure and public defenders. Arrellano also previously served as Cabinet Chief to the President of the House of Representatives and as an international consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank, where he worked on issues related to the modernization of parliaments. In March 2000, then president Ricardo Lagos Escobar appointed Arrellano as Undersecretary of Justice. Today Mr. Arrellano is the Deputy Secretary of Justice.
