Donald Tsang was appointed Chief Executive of Hong Kong by the Central People's Government in 2005. Tsang has served in the civil sector for over 30 years. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive, Tsang was the Chief Secretary for Administration, second in command to the Chief Executive. In 1995, Tsang became the first ethnic Chinese to hold the prestigious position of Financial Secretary. He served as Financial Secretary for six years. During his tenure, Tsang led China through the Asian financial crisis.
