Domingo Siazon is a career diplomat who is currently serving his second term as Philippine Ambassador to Japan. Ambassador Siazon entered the Philippine Foreign Service in 1964 at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. He later served as Philippine representative to the United Nations and as Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Siazon has represented the Philippines at numerous international conferences and events, including serving on the Philippine Delegation to the World Bank and as Chairman of the ASEAN Standing Committee. In 1985, Siazon was elected as Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, becoming the highest-ranking Filipino in the UN. As UNIDO Director, Siazon transformed the organization into an independent specialized agency working to promote industrialization in developing nations.
