Timeline

COPRA ACCREDITATION CYCLE TIME TABLE

FEE -- $3,950 due August 15 with submission of the self study report (or no later than September 15 for schools with fiscal years commencing September 1).

SELF STUDY YEAR -- Defined as the year immediately preceding the year the self study report is submitted (including the summer term before the academic year, not the summer term immediately preceding the submission date. Programs typically take between a year and a half to two years to prepare the self study.

APPLICATION FORM -- Programs must complete and send an application for peer review and accreditation form signed by the institution's chief academic officer and NASPAA Principal Representative - due August 15 with submission of the self study report. Click here to download the Application Form.

AUGUST 15 -- $3,950 due with eight (8) printed and bound copies of self study report Vol. I, an electronic (.PDF) file of Vol. I and II, five copies of the catalog, brochures and supportive material at the NASPAA office. Staff completes technical review; notify program if pages, sections, or abstracts, etc., are missing.

SEPTEMBER -- Staff forwards self study reports and material to Commission members. A member of the Commission is assigned liaison to one or more programs and is in close contact with the program during the year.

OCTOBER -- In conjunction with the NASPAA Annual Conference, COPRA meets to review self study reports; discuss and prepare Interim Reports to send to program director; prepare list of potential candidates for site visit teams.

NOVEMBER -- Interim reports emailed to director of applicant programs. Copies transmitted to COPRA members and the chief academic officer of the applicant program. Program director may respond to issues raised in the November Interim Report. The program response is due Dec.15.

NOVEMBER -- Program director notifies national office by email of intent to proceed to a site visit, and informs staff if site visit team candidates are acceptable. Staff proceeds to contact potential site visit candidates to schedule a site visit. The program liaison acts as the connecting link between the Commission, program head, and site visit team chair.

DECEMBER 15 -- The program’s response to the November Interim Report is due by electronic mail at national office. This response is transmitted to the site visit team and COPRA members.

JANUARY 1 TO MARCH 31 -- Campus site visit are scheduled to occur.

SITE VISIT TEAM REPORT

Within One Month -- Within one month of the completion of the site visit, team prepares DRAFT report; Chairperson takes the lead in preparing the report. Draft SVT report transmitted to program director for review.

Within Two Weeks -- Program has two weeks to prepare response to draft SVT report;

Within Two Weeks -- SVT chair has two weeks to incorporate revisions suggested by the program (if appropriate) into final team report; Chair transmits the report and the program response to the national office, and transmits a copy to program head and to each of the other SVT members.

MARCH, APRIL, MAY -- Staff transmit a copy of final SVT report to the chief academic officer at the institution. Commission members are sent a copy of ALL final site visit team reports and a copy of the program response.

JUNE -- COPRA conducts summer meeting to review and discuss applicant program material. This review discussion includes the self study, catalogs, brochures, November Interim Report and program response, site visit team report and program response, and other relevant correspondence.

JULY -- A copy of COPRA accreditation decision is mailed to program director. A copy is sent to the chief academic officer and COPRA members.

AUGUST -- Roster of Accredited Programs published by the Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation, and available on the NASPAA website, http://www.naspaa.org/accreditation/news/news.asp
